Biography

Pastor R. Kevin Brown, Sr., a Baltimore native, is the son of Ms. Juanita Brown and the late Morris Brown, Jr. Raised in a faith-centered home, he accepted Christ at 13 and was active in youth and young adult ministries at Christian Community Church of God, Baltimore, Maryland.

He graduated from Carver Vocational Technical School in 1979 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Coppin State University in 1998. Continuing his theological studies, he attended Wesley Theological Seminary before transferring to Virginia Union School of Theology, where he obtained a Master of Divinity in 2004. Ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in 1998 and Itinerant Elder in 2004, he pastored Mount Olive AME Church (2004–2011), Bethel AME Church/Port Deposit (2011–2013), and Wright’s AME Church (2013–2023). In 2023, he was appointed pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.

A retired Baltimore City Police Department veteran, Rev. Brown served over 22 years in specialized units, including Narcotics, Arson, Violent Crimes Task Force, and Special Tactical Operations. His dedication earned him numerous commendations from federal, state, and local agencies.

As a spiritual son of Bishop Frank M. Reid III, Rev. Brown held various leadership roles at Bethel AME Church in Baltimore, including Trustee, Minister to Christian Education, and Chief of Security. Passionate about discipleship, he is known for his compassion, encouragement, and hands-on ministry.

His community involvement includes serving as Vice President of the A.M.E. Ministerial Alliance of Baltimore, President of the Greater Elkton Ministerial Alliance (2018–2023), and on the boards of Kennedy Krieger Hospital’s Ethics Committee (2017–2022) and Union Hospital in Cecil County (2018–2023). He has also appeared on Cedric Bailey’s Gospel Broadcast and as a
panelist for Women and Men Uplifting Ministries International.

Rev. Brown has been married to Rev. Annette L. Brown for 37 years. They have two sons, Kevin Jr. and Devin, a daughter-in-love, Grace, and a grandson, Maiki Banford. When asked about his greatest blessing, he humbly declares, “I am born again.”
